is my promise to you

You dared

and you changed a piece of the world.

So you've decided to self-publish? Congratulations, and welcome to the world of editing!

Why pay an editor?

In traditional publishing, the final editing is done for you, and includes many rounds of editing at different levels. However, as a self-publisher, you're responsible for everything. Publishing an unedited book not only turns readers away from trusting self-published authors, but it will turn them away from trusting you.  Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!

To get your share of the sales, you must produce high-quality books—books as professionally presented as those that have been traditionally published.

No author is able to edit their own books effectively. Even I, as an experienced, professional editor, don't see all the mistakes in my writing. We all need the eyes of an experienced editor and a great proofreader.

I edit both fiction and non-fiction manuscripts with either American English or British English style conventions, depending on what you need.

My goal is to provide cost-effective and professional line editing, copy editing, and proofreading services. Depending on which service you choose, I guarantee you between two and four rounds. This means you can concentrate your energy on writing—and all the other aspects you have to take care of—and not worry about the editing.

My passion is to give support and promote quality in the eBook community, so you'll find a number of resources and lots of information here. I hope they'll help and encourage you on your journey.

Click on “Say Hi” if you need some TLC, have a question, or want to get onto my mailing list. And let me know if I can help you with the technicalities of line editing, copy editing, and proofreading.

About Me

My name is Joy Sephton, and I live in Johannesburg, in South Africa. I also lived in the UK for nine years. I work with American English and British English style conventions, depending on which your story needs.

I studied English Literature, English Language, and Linguistics at Rhodes University in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. I have around twenty years of experience in training business writing, and self-editing, and concurrently, started editing and proofreading in 2004. I have been editing exclusively since 2015.

As a writer of fiction in my own capacity, I am also a newly self-published author and have vicarious experience of many launches as ‘my’ authors publish the books I’ve edited. I get the concepts of deadlines and stress!
